During XVII Pope John Paul II Day press conference president of Foundation ‘Work of the New Millennium ‘ management board announced nominations for TOTUS TUUS awards, which have been granted by the foundation for 17 years always the day before Pope Day celebration. They’re given during great gala taking place at Royal Castle in Warsaw. The event is scheduled for October 7^thand will be transmitted by TVP2 television at 4:45 p.m.

Prizes will be granted in four categories – ‘Achievements in area of Christian culture’, ‘Human dignity promotion’, ;Propagation of saint John Paul II teaching’ and ‘Bishop’s Jan Chrapek TOTUS TUUS in media’ honouring achievements in media area. They are awarded to persons or institutions, which specially contribute to promotion of saint Pope teaching and Christian values.

This year nominees are:

In category ‘Achievements in area of Christian culture’:

• Mr. Jerzy Kalina,

• Mr. Paweł Łukaszewski,

• Priest Roman Szpakowski SDB.

In category ‘Human dignity promotion’:

• Mr. Jan Arczewski,

• Father Hubert Czuma SJ,

• Saint Kamil Hospice Association in Bielsko-Biała.

In category ‘Propagation of saint John Paul II teaching’:

• Priest Jarosław Kupczak OP,

• John Paul II Junior High School in Wilno,

• Mrs. Hanna Suchocka.

In category ‘Bishop’s Jan Chrapek TOTUS TUUS in media’:

• Aleteia.pl portal,

• Radio Plus (editorial staff of ‘Nocne swiatla’ audition),

• ‘W drodze’ monthly.

This year Foundation Board decided that special TOTUS TUUS prize will also be given.

Not only laureates will appear on stage but also known musicians whose presence will emphasize the range of the event. This year Olga Szomańska, Krzysztof Kiljański, Antek Smykiewicz and Grzegorz Wilk will perform. Among stars also will be Krzysztof Majda – former member of foundation scholarship program, vocalist and instrumentalist.

Gala will be led by journalist, Tomasz Wolny.
