Preview of ‘ The Gospel According to Women’ musical took place on October 21th and 22th in Youth Palace in Katowice during XVI Pope’s Day celebration. Spectacle was created with association of actors from Franciszek Theater, Catholic Foundation of the Archdiocese of Katowice – ‘Youth for youth’ – and catholic community of ‘New Millennium Creation’ Foundation’s scholars. This event was one of this which graced XVI Pope Day celebration at Śląsk. Especially for us, foundation scholars from Katowice community, spectacle was the reason to be proud, because two of ours scholars – Piotr Solorz, who is an author of music and plays main role and Dominik Lechowicz, who showed his bass playing skills–participated in it.
Musical, like the title suggests, was made to show the Gospel through the eyes of women. New Testament sheets present us men point of view through which we look at those historic events until today. Nevertheless, it were women who constantly accompanied Jesus during His earthly pilgrimage with faith.
‘The Gospel According to Women’ is a moving story full of feminine gentleness, sensitivity, but also strength. The story was sang by those women, who were at the side of Master. Spectacle met with positive reactions of audience: both it was entertaining and moving. That unconventional presentation of the Gospel gave people a chance to look different at well-known events. That might have changed our point of view. Full audience and positive recipient opinions are the biggest proof of spectacle creators’ success.
During the show there was a chance to help the foundation by taking part in fundraiser. We are very delighted because of the chance of participation in the event. We hope it wasn’t the last time when we were able to be a part of this amazing creation. Perhaps it will be our small Katowice’s tradition during yearly celebration of Pope’s Day – right today we invite everybody to events associated with next Pope’s Day celebration.
