The Foundation’s alumni for the second time went on the pilgrimage to the tomb of St. John Paul II. On October 15th 2016 alumni participated in the Holy Mass celebrated at the tomb of St. John Paul II.
The Holy Mass and prayers at the tomb of St. John Paul II are extremely important for them. Each of the participants of the pilgrimage comes there with a great gratitude for the pontificate of St. John Paul II and for special support that they received from the “Dzieło Nowego Tysiąclecia” Foundation. During the Mass they showed their gratitude for the graces received, and also prayed for the Foundation’ donors and all those thanks to whom the Foundation for over 15 years have been supporting talented young people from rural areas and who contribute to promoting the teachings of St. John Paul II.
The pilgrimage is a sign of gratitude for the Foundation’s support in education and spiritual development of the alumni. It also shows how thankful they are for the pontificate of St. John Paul II, who influenced life of every scholarship holder and alumnus of the Foundation.
According to the tradition, participants of the pilgrimage took with themselves the intentions and all thoughts of their friends, alumni and scholarship holders, who could not personally participate in the pilgrimage.
Alumni of the “Dzieło Nowego Tysiąclecia” Foundation are associated in the “Association of Alumni Dzieło “, which was founded to continue and support the objectives of the Foundation and to maintain the friendships. Every year, the family of the alumni grows, so we observe the combination of the following generations – not only of current and former scholarship holders, but also their children, all joined with the memory of St. John Paul II. To share this message, daughter of one of the alumni read a reading during the Holy Mass at the tomb of St. John Paul II. She admits that it was very stressful but unique moment in her life and she will remember it forever.
The pilgrimage of the Foundation’ alumni is a part of the calendar of events of the “Association of Alumni Dzieło “. It is organized every three years to express their gratitude, care and memory in prayers for all donors and the Foundation and scholarship holders.
