The Spark of Divine Mercy from Kraków Łagiewniki

On Sunday march, 30. card. Stanisław Dziwisz along with the Apostolic Nuncio  abp. Celestino Migliore gave The Spark of Mercy to president Bronislaw Komorski and represenatives of the Polish dioceses, army, scouts, media, and civil services from Poland. The Spark of Mercy being a symbol of John Paul II is a lantern that helps us to prepare to the canonization of the Polish Pope.

“Solidarity and mercy is what will bring together Poles and people all around the world” – said card. Dziwisz duwing his homily in Kraków-Łagiewniki, were the Mass that result in receiving the Spark of Mercy was celebrated. The cardinal reminded the wordes of John Paul II which he used during his homily on 17th of August, 2002 „Our world needs the Divine Mercy very much. We need  mercy to put an end to injustice of all kind”. Citing the “Diary” of s. Faustyna Kowalska he reminded that Kraków is a place from which “the spark”, the information about Messiah’s mercy was ment to wonder all around the world.

The lanterns are symbols of this Divine Mercy and of God’s love, which John Paul II, who soon will become our saint, had been teaching us. The celebration has been prepared with scholars of “Dzieło Nowego Tysiaclecia”Foundation.

The lanterns with the sparks will be given to all of the parishes in Polanc on march 13 i.e. on Palm Sunday. And from the parishes, everybody will be able to  take the light to his or her house on April 27 which is a date of double importance. First of all it is the Sunday of Divine Mercy, and second of all the day of canonization of John Paul II – the foundation’s patron.
